How It Works

Donating a car to charity with Car Donation Network is easy. Before you know it, you’ll be rid of your old car and your chosen charity will be better off – all thanks to you!

Step 1- Book a collection of your car

It’s really simple to donate a car to charity with us. After all, if it was really hard, no one would want to do it! We accept cars in any condition – it doesn’t matter if it’s shiny and new or a burnt out scrap car!

First, we’ll ask you for your contact details and some information about the car you want to donate. We’ll also ask you which charity you want to benefit – this is the charity that will receive 70% of all profits made from selling car parts or scrap metal from your car, so choose wisely! Once you’ve sent us the necessary details, we’ll send you an email confirming your request and shortly after we’ll contact you to arrange a collection date that works for you.  All you need to do then is sit tight and wait for us to come and collect your donated car!

What’s good to know is that we’re a registered charity too, we help homeless people to get their lives back on track and so the 30% we keep for doing all the work means that 100% of all proceeds of sale goes to charity. You help two charities!

Step 2- Car collection

When it gets to your chosen collection date, one of our helpful collection teams will be along to pick up your donated car. They’re a friendly bunch, so they’ll always let you know who they are and why they’re there.

If you’ve got the DVLA paperwork (like the V5 or log book) for the car, this is the time to hand that over to our scrap car collection team. We’ll make sure that all the legal stuff is dealt with and that the DVLA is kept fully informed, so you can just sit back, relax and wave goodbye to your donated car!

Step 3- Car auction, car parts or scrap car?

Being the clever scrap car type people that we are, we can make sure that we squeeze every penny out of your donated car. If you donate a car that’s still in a roadworthy condition and we think it’ll do better at auction than at the scrap yard, we’ll try and find a buyer for it. We’ll always get your permission for this, and we guarantee that 100% of the profits from the sale will go straight to charity.

If the car’s a bit battered and bruised, and isn’t suitable to get back on the road, we’ll remove any car parts that we can re-use and sell those on. We’ll then sell the rest of the car to an authorised treatment facility so we can get money for the scrap metal. We’re great at haggling (we’ve been in the trade for a long time!), so we’ll get the best price we can and guarantee 100% of the profits will be donated to charity.

So there it is. Easy as pie. Who would’ve thought that donating a car to charity was so simple? You’re doing something that’s great for the environment, great for charities and great for your scrap car – it’ll find a new purpose in life rather than just ending up on the scrap heap. Well, you know what we mean!
